New `relationship network' launched in Australia

ACN, the US-based network marketing company, will launch its Australian fixed voice and mobile resale business in November 2004. To date, ACN has launched in 15 countries. The most successful is Sweden, where it is the third largest provider of fixed voice services.

Herbalife International Appoints Melanie Hayden General Manager of Herbalife Canada

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2005--Herbalife International, Inc. today announced the appointment of Melanie Hayden as general manager of Herbalife Canada with responsibility for all marketing and operating functions in that country. Hayden will report to Rob Levy, senior vice president of the company's Americas region.

For over two decades, Hayden has been involved in multiple aspects of the direct sales industry, spearheading sales, marketing, operations, product development and promotions for several leading companies. Prior to joining Herbalife, she served as president of the Canadian operation of Partylite Gifts, which became, under her direction, one of the top five direct selling companies in Canada.

Previously, Hayden served as vice president of sales and marketing of Colour Me Beautiful, where she led the startup of a new cosmetics division. She also held numerous posts at Watkins, one of the oldest network marketing companies and providers of what is today known as wellness and gourmet products. There, she created the Canadian business, and ultimately served as vice president of international sales and marketing. Her introduction to the direct sales industry came from Mary Kay, where she served as an independent sales director for five years, earning the famous pink car and building a team of 250 independent distributors.

Mannatech, Incorporated Declares Dividend

COPPELL, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--Mannatech, Incorporated (Nasdaq:MTEX) today announced that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.07 per common share payable on Friday, April 15, 2005, to all shareholders of record at the close of business on Friday, April 1, 2005. If you visit forums devoted to network marketing you know how often the posts consist of thinly veiled promotions of the author's latest "Join Now and Reap Millions in Profits!" hypefest.

After awhile you get to know the hypesters (who usually disappear quickly when few bite at their bait) from the professionals. One way to tell the difference is how much genuine help and valuable information someone provides.

There is one network marketing professional in particiular whom I have seen over time and across different forums consistently provide such honest assistance to others.

I have especially appreciated his comprehensive lists of resources for MLM'ers--very few of which, if any, have anything to do with his primary businesses. In other words, he does not provide a list of "resources" which contain a laundry list of affiliate programs to which he belongs. Quite the opposite.

A Quick Guide to Boosting Link Popularity

The more quality content you have on your site; the more likely other sites will link to yours; which results in higher "link popularity" which means appearing higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

Choose one keyword that best captures the content of your site and that is used frequently by searchers but is not already on a zillion sites. Wordtracker.com is the best tool to discover keywords that meet those criteria. Just pay for one day's use.

Use that keyword periodically throughout your site, especially in the first Headline, in the first 90 characters, in the Title METATAG (also the Keyword and Description METATAGs).

Suggest text for others to use when linking to your site: Use your keyword in that text. For example, the primary keyword for my primary company's site is "usana vitamins" so I suggest people link to me as follows:

"Save up to 45% on USANA Vitamins"

When your primary keyword is used in the referring link, it also helps boost your site in the SERPs.

Submit your site to "niche directories," i.e., directories relevant to your site's content. StrongestLinks.com has a nice list of general and specialized directories. It is sometimes worth it to pay for listings, depending on your overall Internet marketing strategy, profit margins, team building approach, etc.

I've used the above approaches to gradually climb up the SERPs so that "usana vitamins" is first or second on Yahoo and MSN and bounces around from #1 to #9 on Google, which is real quirky these days.

All of the above will not work if you do not have the kind of content people are looking for when they use your primary keyword to search the 'Net.
